Happy Pearl Harbor Day!
From the website of the National World War Two Museum in New Orleans, Louisiana:
7 December 1941 started as a typical Sunday morning at Pearl Harbor, the Navy's Pacific Fleet Headquarters on the Hawai'ian island of Oahu. That is, until shortly before 8:00 am, when Japan launched roughly two hundred planes from six aircraft carriers in its first wave of Operation Hawai'i, forever to be known by Americans as "the attack on Pearl Harbor" or just Pearl Harbor.
The Japanese attack, which took the lives of approximately twenty-four hundred Americans and wounded more than eleven hundred others, galvanized an entire nation around the rallying cry: Remember Pearl Harbor.
