Warm now, but chill may return

John Bolaris has the bad news:
Officially the snow season is over, but we're still looking at the possibility of some late-season frost attacks. We seem to be stuck in a periodic rather deep trough (a valley in the atmosphere that allows for, in the winter, frigid and stormy outbreaks, and, in the spring, unseasonably cool outbreaks with above-normal rain amounts).
In between, we get what we call some temporary ridging (a mountain of air that keeps us dry and usually warmer than normal temps). This spring, let's say at least through mid-May, the cooler and wetter troughs should win here in the Northeast. That being said, it's all in the timing. If the majority of the deeper valley troughs take place during the workweek and the warmer and dry ridging times itself for your weekends, not many folks would complain.
That would be nice. And if I could make that work out for you and possessed the meteorological power to do so, I would light up a cigar, kick back, and be anointed King of the Weather Gods.
Okay,  a little weather fantasy never hurt anyone...
Back to the real world, I do see the threat of a late-April frost, and that could extend into the first week of May. For the rest of April, I'm calling for more rain and chillier temperatures than normal. Readings for the most part will be in the sixties by day and in the forties or low fifties at night.
By the end of this upcoming weekend, depending on what computer model you believe, temps on Sunday into Monday could drop back down into the fifties with periods of rain. If you buy the European model, we would see more in the way of sunshine and milder temps. Right now it's up for grabs.
The next time frame to watch for possible frost would be between April 23rd and 27th.
I will be putting out a long-range 2015 hurricane forecast to be posted by late April or the very first week of May.
Since it was the coldest winter in 37 years, it certainly feels good to have a warm one that was served up for today!!!
Your week ahead:Tuesday: Showers by daybreak, a heavy line of showers and storms could fire up across South Jersey and Delaware during the afternoon. Any showers or storms will move away from Philly by mid-late afternoon. Temps: 65-70.
Wednesday: Sunshine and 67 degrees.
Thursday: Sun to clouds, 64.
Friday: Clouds, some sun, a passing shower, 65.
Saturday: Periods of rain, 62
Sunday: Changeable skies and unsettled, 61.
Rico says it's getting better, if slowly...
