Movie review for the day
Rico says some movies are worth watching except for one bad character, and The Shootist is one of those. It stars the inestimal John Wayne, but he's backed up by an incredible cast: Lauren Bacall, Jimmy Steward, Richard Boone, Hugh O'Brien, John Carradine, Harry Morgan, and Scatman Crothers, in a great movie based on Glendon Swartout's excellent book by the same name. Unfortunately, Don Siegel, the director, hired Ron Howard to play the boy (though you can't call him that, it seems; he insists on everyone using his name, Gillom Rogers). He was too old, based on the character in the book, and way too smart-assed and highly irritating; Rico says that J.B. Books should've shot him...
