On 9 September 1976, Communist Chinese leader Mao Tse-tung died in Beijing at age 82.

Rico says that, of course, he's reminded of the Kliban cartoon (which he can't locate, sorry) of the two cats in Mao outfits saying: "Mao." "Mousy dung." (And, apparently, the Mandarin word for 'cat' is 'mao'...)
