Living in the cage
Rico says the condo in which he and the ladyfriend live (the house having been built in the late 1800s, when they built hell-for-stout and damn the expense) has eighteen-inch-thick granite foundation walls (remember, he and the ladyfriend have the English-basement apartment) and bars on the windows (hey, it keeps out the riffraff). This forms a perfect Faraday cage. The result is, at best, poor cellphone reception and, usually, a lot of dropped calls. So, whether Rico is calling you or you're calling him, don't be surprised if things don't go well...
