Another one not settled with a handshake
Seems the Basque separatists are still killing Spanish politicians. (Hey, can we get them some work over here? Just kidding...) "In the last election, turnout reached almost 78 percent, about 8 percentage points more than the previous election. Socialist party officials have said that participation above 75 percent would help them widen their majority in parliament, while anything below 70 percent could lead to a PP victory. Others said that the killing may not benefit either of the two main parties. "This isn't going to favor the government", said Jose Antonio Yanez, a sociology professor at Madrid's Carlos III University. "Zapatero's central effort was to negotiate with ETA and that's come back in his face. The attack may tip voters toward Rosa Diez", a former Socialist lawmaker standing as an independent after breaking with the Socialists over the ETA talks.
