Rico says it's rare for Hollywood to recognize films from outside, but this one was too good to ignore.
Congrats to the Academy for giving it not only best picture, but best direction, best adapted screenplay, best original score, best film editing, best original song, best sound mixing and best cinematography. That's kind of a sweep... Slumdog’s eight Oscars was the largest total won by a single film since The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King won eleven in 2004.
Sean Penn got Best Actor for his role in Milk, Penélope Cruz for Best Supporting Actress for Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Best Actress went to Kate Winslet for The Reader, and, fittingly, Heath Ledger got Best Supporting Actor for his role as the Joker in The Dark Knight. Wall-E got Best Animated Film, and Man on Wire won for Best Documentary Feature.
