Why do all that, just for history?

Rico has plans for the years 2011 through 2015, and they involve traveling around the country visiting the Civil War reenactments of the 150th anniversary of the War.
Why? It won't be cheap (even though we'll be doing it on the cheap), it'll be hard and long (we'll be going to dozens of reenactments from Gettysburg to Santa Fe to Key West), and it is, after all, merely history. Oh, yeah, and dressing up in funny clothes and marching around in the sun all day...
(First off, an admission. Rico stole, fair and square, the term Civil Wargasm from Robert Lee Hodge, as written up in Confederates in the Attic by Tony Horwitz. The original usage was three words, Civil War Gasm, but Rico likes the run-on version he's using. A great book; go buy a copy at Amazon.)

The reason, besides a love of history in general and the Civil War in particular?
Because, as my old (and now dead) friend Larry Jordan pointed out, you're dead a long time, boyo.
Rico says he was nine for the Centennial, and he'll be a hundred and nine (though it's unlikely he'll make that) for the Bicentennial, so he's going to do it up this time while he can...
