Seems that GSK didn't report adverse effects early enough on Seroxat, an anti-depressive. "The drug, among the group of antidepressants that account for 16 million prescriptions a year, was subsequently banned for use in under-18s." "Like many drugs, Seroxat was never licensed in the under-18s, but doctors could still prescribe it “off-label” where they thought it might benefit children or adolescents with depression." "An investigation last year suggested that secret e-mails showed that the drug company distorted trial results, covering up a link with suicide in teenagers."
Rico remembers this hoo-hah; GSK said they did nothing wrong because the docs who were prescribing it were doing it 'off-label', which GSK never approved. (Wink, wink...)
