Meet Titus. He is two years old, and he has some incredible basketball moves. With the help of his dad, he has been making videos of his trick shots that have taken him to The Jimmy Kimmel Show, and has earned such fans as Channing Tatum and Bradley Cooper.
Charming and harmless, right? Not according to Deadspin writer Tom Ley.
In an article, the Deadspin staff laid out a list of Everything That Should Die in 2014. Number three is The Trick-Shot Titus Phenomenon. Ley contends that Titus is being exploited by his father, Joseph Ashby, as “Honey Boo Boo with a jump shot.”
Maybe it’s just me, but this seems a tad harsh for a two-year-old. Unfortunately, it doesn’t end there.
Bordering what one may call obsession, Ley delved into Ashby’s Twitter account and discovered, apparently with glee, that Ashby is a Christian conservative with a radio show. Ley immediately retweeted some of Ashby’s older tweets, “outing” him as a conservative.
And in mature fashion, he tweets:

tom ley you are awful

Followed shortly thereafter by:

tom ley bigot of a father

To which Ashby cleverly tweeted back:

joseph ashby pirates tweet

Do Tom Ley’s tweets seem a little bit excessive/obsessive to anyone else? Maybe this so-called “sports writer” should stop harassing a talented two-year-old and his father and get a life...
