Idiot for the day

Barry Ellsworth has an article in AllVoices about Zimmerman (the idiot in question):

George Zimmerman’s now on a “road trip”. He’s prowlin’ through Texas, he’s movin’ fast, and he’s packin’ heat, again.
The Florida resident was just recently acquitted in the shooting death of unarmed teen Trayvon Martin in Sanford, Florida. The aftermath of that verdict has ripped and roiled the racial guts of America, but Zimmerman had a new firearm when he was stopped by police for speeding in Texas, ABC News has reported.
In a dash-cam video obtained by ABC, you could hear the voice of a police officer ask: “Where are you headed?”
“Nowhere in particular,” Zimmerman is heard to respond and he followed that up by invoking his “celebrity” status, asking the officer if he noticed the name on the driver’s license. He told the officer he had a gun in the glove compartment.
“Don’t play with your firearm,” the officer joked and told him to shut the glove compartment. After checking for outstanding warrants and not finding anything, he let Zimmerman go.
Zimmerman has a concealed carry permit in Florida, which was given back to him after the acquittal and that entitles him to be packing in most states. However, Federal authorities took the weapon used in the Martin killing as evidence as they begin their own investigation into the death.
Conventional wisdom, or at least those in favor of gun control, would probably dictate that after the Martin killing, Zimmerman would shy away from guns.
But for the warped George Zimmermans of America (and a lot of them are members of the National Rifle Association) the killing was reason to, if anything, increase the arsenal.
“He needs a gun now more than ever,” said Mark O’Mara, his chief lawyer. “There are a lot of people out there who actually hate him, though they shouldn’t.” A member of Zimmerman’s legal team told ABC that George was on a road trip, although for safety reasons his whereabouts are not being disclosed.
What Zimmerman, his NRA brethren, and others of that ilk don’t understand is that, in order to stop mass shootings and other gun deaths, the answer is not to arm every citizen, but to limit the arms.
Less guns, less shooting. More guns, more shooting. Simple as that.
Seems it is a bit too simple for the simple-minded like Zimmerman.
