Nice doggy, dead doggy

A police officer was being treated for a bite wound after he was attacked by a Rottweiler in Wynnefield while he attempted make an arrest late Sunday afternoon, police said.
Cops said officers were chasing a suspect on foot around 4 p.m. when the man ran into a house on 56th Street near Wynnefield Avenue. When officers went inside to attempt to catch the suspect, his relatives surrounded him, police said, and a Rottweiler that was inside the house attacked one officer, biting him in the left wrist. That officer and two others shot and killed the dog, according to police.
The officer was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania to be treated for the dog bite and released later Sunday evening. Police remained at the scene of the incident and were in the process of making arrests around 5 p.m.
