After over a decade back in the saddle, Steve Jobs announced that he is stepping down as CEO of Apple. This has everyone wondering that, with Steve Jobs stepping down, what’s in store for Apple? While many would like to think that Steve has been the driving force behind all of Apple’s products, the innovation itself has been the effort of many unknown developers deep within the company. Steve’s contribution has been a demand for purpose, simplicity, and elegance in what those great minds at Apple invent. Innovation will no doubt continue at Apple. There will be another late-teens or early twenties geek who will say “what about this?” The real question is whether there will be another geek who demands purpose behind the idea, who ruthlessly rejects all that is not simple, and who desires nothing but beauty and elegance. There is no question that Steve is one of a kind. But, for every James Tiberius Kirk there is a Jean-Luc Picard. The next visionary to lead Apple doesn’t have to be Steve. That next visionary just has to be good.Rico says it's good that someone credits the guys in the cubicles who actually create the great stuff that Steve gets to tout to us...
