It's not clear that either Paul would run as an independent or that Ventura would be a guy he wants on the ticket, but that didn't stop the former governor from floating himself. Ventura dedicated 63 Documents the Government Doesn’t Want You to Read, his latest book, to Paul and believes the Texas congressman is “the only federal elected official who will stand up for America on the congressional floor”. The former independent governor made clear that his interest in Paul's candidacy stems from his view that the two-party system is broken. Asked if he'd campaign as a Democrat or Republican, Ventura responded: "Never. I will not be a Democrat or a Republican," Ventura said. "They are the problem, not the solution. We need to abolish political parties in this country."
