At least he has a sense of humor

John McCain not only went back on the Letterman show, he made jokes:
Former GOP presidential candidate John McCain enjoyed a lighthearted visit on David Letterman's late night talk show Thursday, joking that he didn't want to "talk about the bleeping campaign" and sharing the story about how he became the 'Air Pirate'.
Celebrity News Service enjoyed McCain's visit with Letterman and was glad to see that neither seemed to harbor ill-will after the Arizona senator canceled a 24 September appearance during the presidential campaign and then stopped by to see Katie Couric. Despite being angry immediately after the incident, Letterman made fun of McCain, who has since apologized to Letterman for skipping his show.
Thursday night Letterman started by asking how McCain was unwinding after the campaign and the senator laughed and said, "I don't want to talk about the bleeping campaign. Understand? If you think I'm going to go back to that bleeping situation, then bleep you."
McCain did talk with Letterman about the many times he crashed airplanes, saying he owed the government "a lot of money". When he was shot down over North Vietnam and taken as a prisoner of war, a statue was erected at the site in Hanoi where he was taken prisoner that says "On 26 October 1967 the famous air pirate was shot down. John McCain was captured."
"You know, you don't get a lot of statues," McCain said. "At least before you die."
Rico says he won't get a portrait in the Union League, however...
