They don't know why

A commercial for shoes features a bunch of shoeboxes stacked up in the back of the car after a major shopping expedition, including one bearing the logo Mudd.
Rico says he's seen these shoes in the store, and laughed every time, just as he does at the commercial.
Why?
Because the makers haven't a clue who their shoes are named after.
Not Harvey Mudd.
No, they undoubtedly chose it because of the old phrase Your name is Mudd.
The problem is, no one remembers who that was: Dr. Samuel Mudd, who treated John Wilkes Booth following Lincoln's assassination, and who spent four years in Fort Jefferson prison in the Dry Tortugas as a result.

Rico says the phrase may have an older meaning, but everyone knows it's about Dr. Mudd now...
