Rico wants one; you do, too

The San Jose Business Journal has an article about the new Tesla plant there:
Electric car maker Tesla Motors Inc. said it leased 89 acres in San Jose to build its headquarters and a new 600,000 square-foot plant for its latest model.
The Model S will be powered by a lithium-ion battery pack and will sell for about $60,000, about half the cost of the company's first car, the Roadster.
The San Jose factory will roll the first Model S out during the fourth quarter of 2010, Tesla said, and plans to produce about 15,000 during its first year. The company added that it expects its new factory and corporate headquarters to create about 1,000 jobs.
In June the company said it would build the latest model in California after saying earlier it had chosen New Mexico. Tesla's CEO, Ze’ev Drori, said he wanted to keep the car manufacturing in California, where the company has been since it was founded in 2003. The state is offering Tesla incentives that include waiving of rent for the first 10 years in San Jose and waiving state sales tax.
Tesla's backers include Jeff Skoll, former president of San Jose-based eBay Inc. and the co-founders of Mountain View-based Google Inc. Its chairman is Elon Musk, the co-founder of San Jose-based PayPal Inc.
Rico says Google, eBay, and PayPal? It doesn't get more Silicon Valley than that...
