Lucky, for a politician

The Washington Post has an article about the investigation into Florida Representative Mark Foley and charges he was trading explicit messages with underage boys:
After a two-year investigation that began with the discovery of graphic messages between former U.S. Rep. Mark Foley (R-Fla.) and underage Capitol Hill aides, federal and state investigators have decided not to pursue criminal charges against the ex-congressman.
The decision not to charge Foley, a former six-term GOP congressman, appears to end a saga that began when ABC News reported in September 2006 that aides had received explicit messages from Foley containing references to sexual acts and body parts.
The House ethics committee concluded that House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert (a Republican from Illinois) and his top staff probably knew for months, if not years, of Foley's inappropriate contact with former House pages but did nothing to protect them.
Rico says Foley played the old "I was an alcoholic victim myself" routine, and skated. But let's hope the rumors about a post-investigation comeback aren't true...
