A job for Halliburton, surely

Rico can't have been the first one to think of this, but if he's not, why haven't they done it already? (They've got the money.) The solution to the Straits of Hormuz problem (think Iranian mines and gunboats) is to build a pipeline from somewhere around the edge of the UAE on the inside through to Masqat on the Indian Ocean on the outside. (Probably floating terminals on both ends, given the water depths inshore.) No tanker traffic through the Strait, no credible threat from the Iranians, no choke point, no gas crisis.

Rico says if they heard it here first, someone's not been thinking...
