The two Austrian teenagers (photo) who ran away to join a group of Islamist militants in Syria have reportedly changed their minds and want to come home.Rico says he's sure they thought this was gonna be fun... (But they're idiots, as well as poster children for Norplant...)
Both Samra Kesinovic, seventeen, and Sabina Selimovic, fifteen, have become pregnant after marrying jihadist fighters, according to most recent reports.
Members of the Austrian and British press have reported that the pair want to return home to Austria to get away from the atrocities of war in Syria.
The teenagers had been dubbed the ‘poster girl jihadi brides’ of ISIS and their social media accounts were said to have been appropriated to glamorize their lifestyles.
The girls initially wrote a letter to their parents, telling them not to come looking for them as they were going to “serve Allah”, adding that they would “die for him”.
But the Telegraph reported over the weekend that they have contacted their families, telling them they no longer want to live within the rules of the Islamist extremists.
Austrian officials aren’t sure if the girls can even come back home.
“A return for ISIS-sympathizers in the area is almost impossible. The authorities can do nothing here,” one source told the Austrian newspaper Oesterreich.
Both girls are listed on Interpol’s missing persons’ page. It is thought their views had become radicalised in recent years after reading about jihad on the internet.
It is thought that over a hundred Austrian nationals have joined ISIS fighters in Turkey and Syria.
