Last hurrah, with any luck

Kevin McSpadden has a Time article about the latest storm:
Winter weather began to slam the mid-Atlantic region of the US overnight and is expected to inundate the Northeast on Thursday. Kentucky and West Virginia are expected to see the heaviest snowfall, with the National Weather Service Prediction Center forecasting anywhere from five to ten inches.
Temperatures should be be significantly colder than average— anywhere from ten to thirty degrees— across the region.
The governors of Alabama, Mississippi, West Virginia, and New Jersey have all declared states of emergency, and even Congress sped up its work in light of the six to eight inches of snow that was forecast to hit DC, The Associated Press reports.
But at long last, one of the worst winters in recent memory may be relenting, according to Mike Halpert, deputy director of the National Weather Service’s Climate Prediction Center. He told the AP the storm “might be winter’s last hurrah”.
But some Bostonians, who are two inches away from breaking their all-time snow record, are saying bring it on. “I want the record. We earned the record,” said Erin O’Brien, professor of political science at the University of Massachusetts-Boston. And they may just reach that mark, with the possibility of an inch or two falling across the city.
Rico says the crazy Bostonians can have the fucking record...

John Bolaris has more at Philly.com:
The changeover from rain to snow is here. The latest models this morning are lining up to produce a major snowstorm for Philadelphia and its surrounding suburbs.

Timing:The brunt of the snow: 9 a.m-3 p.m. Heavy accumulating snow. Temperatures falling into the twenties. Snow emergency in effect, schools closed. 3-4 p.m.: Snow tapers to light to moderate snow. After 4 p.m.: Snow tapering to light snow. Still heavy across parts of South Jersey and Delaware. 6-9 pm.: Snow ending west to east.
Accumulations:
Philadelphia
: six to eight inches.
Parts of South Jersey and Delaware: eight to ten inches.

Rico says that's enough, already...
