Serial liar

The Telegraph has an article by Rob Crilly and Gordon Rayner about the woman accusing the Duke of York:
The woman who claims she was paid to have sex with the Duke of York is a “serial liar” who has set out on a “deliberate” smear campaign, according to a retired Harvard law professor who is suing her for defamation.
Alan Dershowitz (photo, above, left), who has vehemently denied Virginia Roberts’ (photo, above, right) claims that she was forced to have sex with him, says he can demonstrate her claims are untrue.
In court papers filed in Florida, Professor Dershowitz says one of her claims– that she had sex with him on Epstein’s private island– was easy to disprove, as he had only ever spent one night on the island, when he stayed there with his wife and daughter.
Meanwhile sources close to the Duke have indicated that he does not plan to follow Professor Dershowitz’ example of suing Roberts.
In the papers filed at a court in Palm Beach, Florida, Dershowitz accuses Roberts’ lawyers of mounting a media campaign by tipping off reporters during the holiday season that they had filed explosive papers– which he says they knew to be untrue– claiming that the Duke had sexually abused Roberts when she was seventeen. The Duke categorically denies any sexual contact with her.
Dershowitz, 76, said claims by Roberts’ father that she had met the Queen exposed her unreliability. “On information and belief, a check of the records of Buckingham Palace would disclose that Roberts lied to her father about such a visit,” he said. “On information and belief, she has also told lies about many world leaders.” Buckingham Palace said it had no records of any such meeting.
In his declaration, Dershowitz added that specific information about Roberts meeting President Bill Clinton on Epstein’s private island could easily have been checked with Secret Service records. Those would show the former president had never set foot on Little Saint James in the Virgin Islands, he said. “They would also have learned, if they did not already know, that Roberts is a serial liar, whose uncorroborated word should never be credited,” he said. Andrew also denied allegations that he slept with Roberts on Epstein’s private jet and on his island when she was under the age of sexual consent.“That is a deliberate lie,” he said. “I was on that island only once in my life, for approximately one day. I was with my wife and daughter during the entire day. My wife, daughter, and I slept overnight in the same room.”
Sources close to the Duke of York said he had no plans to sue Roberts, as he believes he has said as much as he needs to say on Roberts’ accusations.
Members of the royal family have always shied away from suing for libel, partly because it would give their accusers the opportunity to sling mud in court, and partly because it would raise the unseemly prospect of the royal family member giving evidence, and being cross-examined, in a court of law.
Rico says there's a song about this, isn't there?
