Rico says he rewatched (as he has many times, and likely will again)
The Guns of Navarone, a splendid war movie starring
Gregory Peck,
Anthony Quinn, and (yes, it's true)
Bobby Darrin as a nice Greek boy. (
Irene Papas played his sister; she reminds
Rico of his late wife.)
Just like they couldn't find a real Greek actor, they couldn't find real German vehicles, so the
Nazis are driving
Dodge trucks. They also used American half tracks, armored cars, and tanks, too. The
Stukas are models, of course;
nobody has a flying
Stuka.
