Rico says that he and Teddy Roosevelt, whatever else they may have in common, share the same rictus of a smile, and for the same reason: if you have a bushy mustache, and don't put on a wide grin, no one can see it (and, as Rico used to get from his hectoring father, you get shit for it)...
