Book review for the day

Rico says that, more to say he'd done it than any real enjoyment of it, he read The Red Badge of Courage by Stephen Crane.
A pretty good rendition of the terrors of battle (particularly because Crane never served in the War), it was spoiled by the fashionable-at-the-time turgid Victorian prose.
There's a movie (starring Audie Murphy, no less, and the cartoonist Bill Mauldin, the creator of Willie & Joe) made from it:
An adaptation of Stephen Crane's novel about a Union soldier who struggles to find the courage to fight in the heat of battle.
