A very gentile Texas lady was driving across a high bridge one day. As she neared the crest, she noticed a young man fixin' (which means 'getting ready to' in Texan) to jump.
She stopped her car, rolled down the window and pleaded with him: "Please don't jump. Think of your dear mother and father."
"Mom and Dad are both dead." He shook his head. "I'm going to jump."
"Well, then, think of your wife and children."
"I'm not married and don't have any kids."
She sighed and said: "Well, then, remember the Alamo."
"What's the Alamo?"
She shook her head: "Well, bless your heart, you just go ahead and jump, you dumb ass Yankee."
