Companies aren't as smart as they think

There's been a ton of television advertising locally for the new FIOS service from Verizon. Fiber optics, very fast, great bandwidth, extremely cool.
They've also been telling me for months that, for no apparent reason, they're not yet offering it in my area. (Even though I live on the Main Line, the most expensive set of Philly suburbs...)
Imagine my surprise, therefore, when I was banging on the system the other day just to check and, lo and behold, it started to take my order for FIOS. Even went through the whole 'how are you going to pay for the equipment, select a day for us to come install it' part. (They were supposed to come this Friday.)
Now I'm going "hot diggity dog", of course, because we get high-speed internet, non-cable television, the whole nine yards. All at a reasonable price, too. Plus they throw in a 'free' HDTV set, flat-screen no less.
Well, too good to be true, of course.
Double checked with a real person this morning. The whole deal was either (depending on your point of view, and you can guess where Rico came down on this one) a system glitch or a total lie.
No FIOS.
Maybe some day, still unspecified and unknowable.

Rico says he's pissed, and will be until the FIOS cable hits the side of the house...
