It’s been a bumpy summer for Hillary Clinton. Between the controversy over her private email server and the rise of Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, she has slid in national polls since early July by more than sixteen percent, according to a poll average by Real Clear Politics. In New Hampshire, she is now trailing Sanders, and she appears to be headed for the same fate in Iowa.Rico says she will eventually bottom out...
Whether Clinton can reverse course is anybody’s guess, but her team is counting on her recent apology and her insistence that she followed all State Department rules to clear her through the e-mail controversy. Vice President Joe Biden’s entry into the race could also considerably change the course of her campaign, as could a clear declaration of his intentions.
The chart above shows Clinton’s slide in national polls as well as in New Hampshire and Iowa. The data was taken from a Real Clear Politics average of reputable polls taken over the last two months. In New Hampshire, the latest data is from 6 September 2015. In the US and Iowa polls, the latest figures come from 10 September.
