On 21 June 1964, three civil rights workers (Michael Schwerner, James Chaney, Andrew Goodman, left to right, above) disappeared in Philadelphia, Mississippi. Their bodies were found buried in an earthen dam six weeks later. Eight members of the Ku Klux Klan went to prison on Federal conspiracy charges; none served more than six years.Rico says he was twelve when it happened, and he's never forgotten these three, but it would take years before the grip of the KKK in the South was broken...
