The press secretary for a central Pennsylvania congressman was arrested after attempting to take a handgun into a Congressional office building.Rico says some people should know better...
Ryan Shucard (photo), the spokesman for Representative Tom Marino (a Republican from Williamsport), was arrested when a metal detector sounded at the Cannon House Office Building. Security discovered a Smith & Wesson handgun in his possession. The Capitol Police have charged him with carrying a pistol without a license, a felony.
Marino’s chief of staff said that Shucard, hired on 27 May 2014, has been placed on indefinite unpaid leave. “That will last until we know more about the situation,” said Bill Tighe. "The Capitol Police informed us that neither our office nor the Capitol community faced any danger," said Tighe. "We're disappointed with Ryan's lack of judgement and responsibility as a firearms owner."
According to his LinkedIn profile, Shucard previously served as a congressional aide and press assistant to Senator Joe Lieberman, an Independent from Connecticut.
