Karen Needles has a post here about an event Rico will attend:
Frank Smith, director of the African American Museum in Washington, DC, is in the process of getting a permit from the city to hold a Grand Review in 2015. As President of the Lincoln Group of D.C., we are working with other Lincoln organizations to hold a symposium on The Legacy of Lincoln and the Civil War concurrently with the Grand Review. Another group is working on a Living History encampment on the Mall behind the American History and National HIstory Museum, headed by David Childs, who worked with the First Bull Run reenactment and living history events. All are in the early stages, but we are trying to work together to have these events occurring during the same weekend as the Grand Review.
We are looking to those who have organized similar events, to participate in these events. We are starting early so that everything is well organized, from the encampment for soldiers participating in the event, to parking, sponsorship, etc.
We want this event to happen, to be fun, exciting, and enriching both for those participating and those attending.
