Rico says he finally found a scan of this illustration for the George Byram story, The Chronicle of the 656th, originally published in Playboy magazine in March of 1968. If you've never read it, find a copy and read it. (Or find a copy of the out-of-print book The Fantastic Civil War, published by Baen Books in 1991 and distributed by Simon & Schuster.) The story's great (especially if you like science fiction and the Civil War, like Rico), but the photo's the kicker; look close and you'll see why... (Yes, the anachronisms are explained in the story.)
