Same name, different bunch

The Sudanese government has reimposed a curfew in Omdurman, where they're fighting rebels. The Brits did it in the same place in 1898, when Kitchener defeated the Army of the Mahdi. (Gee, sound familiar? "It was a demonstration of the superiority of a highly disciplined European led army equipped with modern rifles and artillery over tribesmen with older weapons.") Winston Churchill was there, with his Mauser pistol. Around 10,000 Sudanese were killed, 13,000 were wounded, and 5,000 were taken prisoner. Kitchener's force lost 48 men with 382 wounded.

Rico says it sounds like Iraq all over again, complete with the Mahdi Army...
