Understatement of the decade

In an al-Reuters release, Sayed Salahuddin used this phrase to describe the Taliban in Afghanistan:

"Removed from power in 2001..."

Now that minimizes the American involvement in the departure of the Taliban pretty well completely.
I don't think the Taliban see it quite the same way.
