Donald Trump (photo) didn't register that much in the news today, a rare event. One reason for that is that Senate Democrats seized the national stage by holding a filibuster to demand universal gun-purchase background checks and bans on weapons purchases by suspected terrorists. Another was that Trump spent much of the day in Washington, DC giving a deposition in the case of a chef who Trump is suing because the chef is backing out of an agreement to work at a Trump property because the chef thinks Trump is a racist.Rico says we survived four years of Nixon and Ford, we can survive this asshole, who is a racist, (and even four years of Hillary...) But where's Lee Harvey Oswald or Mehmet Ali Ağca when you need them?
Neither of these things are great for Trump's cause. The Senate filibuster might not end up helping get a bill passed, but it was good political theater on an issue on which the general public generally agrees with the official Democratic position, which is also Hillary Clinton's position. Trump's deposition, meanwhile, is a pretty perfect symbol of his tendency to let personal vendettas get in the way of the business of campaigning. The Trump Apocalypse Watch danger level appears to be in no immediate threat of needing to be raised.
