Former longtime Subway spokesperson Jared Fogle (photo) was expected to plead guilty to child pornography charges in a deal revealed recently that would require him to serve at least five years of prison time and pay more than a million dollars to his victims.
Fogle’s attorney responded to the charges by saying Fogle has a “medical problem” and “understands that he requires significant psychiatric medical treatment and counseling”.
Here are four of the most disturbing allegations from the court documents.
Fogle traveled to New York City to have sex with underage prostitutes at least twice, according to court documents. He arranged the trips— during which he stayed at the upscale Plaza and the Ritz Carlton hotels— to coincide with official business.
“The younger the girl, the better,” Fogle said.
After Fogle paid for sex with one minor, he asked her to help him arrange to have sex with another underage girl. He instructed the minor that, next time, “the younger the girl, the better,” though he would accept a girl as old as sixteen, according to court documents.
Fogle’s associate, Russell Taylor, who ran a charitable foundation founded by Fogle, has been named as Fogle’s co-conspirator in the scheme and is accused of providing Fogle with child pornography. To create the pornography, according to court documents, Taylor employed a system of “multiple hidden cameras concealed in clock radios positioned so that they would capture the minors changing clothes, showering, bathing, or engaging in other activities” in buildings where he lived.
The pornography included images of children as young as six.
Taylor also had child pornography material produced outside the US that depicted children as young as approximately age six, according to the documents. This material depicted children engaging in “sexually explicit conduct”, and some of it was shared with Fogle.
