It was 25 years ago this month... I'm sitting at my desk at Apple, and Al Eisenstat calls me. Asks questions about using the Russian language on a Mac. I tell him the little that I know, and he says: "You need to come with John and me to Moscow to meet Gorbachev." John Sculley that is, and Dave Barram. So, two weeks later, we are in the Kremlin, and then off to visit with Andrei Sakharov, who just got out of exile. Meetings with leading figures in government, science and education. A whirlwind tour with the top brass, then back to my desk documenting APIs. Still feels like a dream...
