The History Channel reminds us of a famous speech:
19 November 1863: While suffering from a fever, possibly the early stages of smallpox, Abraham Lincoln delivers a short speech (just ten sentences) to a crowd gathered in a field in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. When the speech is complete, the audience tepidly applauds as the president returns to his seat. Afterward, Lincoln called the speech "a flat failure", an opinion echoed by several newspapers. Today the Gettysburg Address is considered one of the greatest speeches in history.
