Another good one gone

Peter Jorgensen, the publisher of Civil War News, died after a long career in the publishing business. His official obituary:

C. Peter Jorgensen, publisher of Civil War News and The Artilleryman, died on 25 September at the age of 68. Kathryn Jorgensen, Peter's wife and business partner since 1969, will continue to serve the publications as editor and publisher.
Jorgensen was a member of the 34th Battalion Virginia Cavalry of the North-South Skirmish Association, competing in carbine, musket, revolver, cannon and mortar events. He was a former member of the 5th and 10th Massachusetts Batteries.

His varied interests and collections included military history, especially Civil War and World War Two books, art, and artifacts.

He was an authority on Civil War field artillery, at one time having a large collection of 3-inch projectiles and cannons, one of which he fired at the Tunbridge, Vermont Memorial Day service.

His many memberships included the Company of Military Historians, Massachusetts Arms Collectors, the New England Antique Arms Society, and the Council on America’s Military Past.

His funeral will be on Saturday, 3 October, at 12 p.m. at the Tunbridge Church, followed by a committal service and party, both at his 234 Monarch Hill Road home.
