History for the day

On 26 June 1963, President Kennedy visited West Berlin, where he made his famous declaration: "All free men, wherever they may live, are citizens of Berlin, and therefore, as a free man, I take pride in the words, Ich bin ein Berliner." ("I am a Berliner").

Rico says that, unfortunately, Kennedy's heavily-accented German was incorrect; translated, that phrase actually means "I am a locally-popular pastry", but everybody got it anyway...
