The Dallas Morning News has the story of a Mexican who was, finally, executed for a murder he committed back in 1993, after being part of a gang that raped (and then strangled) two girls in Houston. Everyone is in a tizzy because they didn't allow him to talk to a Mexican consul after he was arrested, in spite of a 1963 treaty guaranteeing that right.
Rico says he's still not sure how talking with the consul was supposed to help; it's not like the guy was an American lawyer...
