Picked up this book for the ladyfriend, who didn't think so, then started to read it myself. The author, Jeff Talarigo, writes well; it's hard to write 'foreign', but he does very well at it. (My favorite, of course, are the Asian books by Stephen Becker: Chinese Bandit, The Blue-Eyed Shan, The Last Mandarin, etc. If you haven't read any of them, you should.) He's got another one, The Pearl Diver; I'll have to find it at the library when I'm done with this one.
