Went to see
Vicky Christina Barcelona with the ladyfriend. Not your typical Woody Allen movie. Much conversation, of course, and a
major voiceover narration. Rico was also confused by the advertising; the 'Vicky' of the title is
not Penelope Cruz; she is played by Rebecca Hall. Ms Cruz plays the artist's wife, Maria Elena (the artist being Javier Bardem, previously famous for playing the truly scary character Anton Chigurh in
No Country for Old Men, along with some forty other movies that Rico's never heard of, since they were all made in Spanish). All in all, very pretty, very sexy, and not at all what Rico had expected. Maybe it's the location, maybe it's the non-Woody Allen-coterie of actors, maybe it's the script, but it's not
Annie Hall or
Manhatten...
