The
Associated Press has an article in
The Philadelphia Inquirer about stupidity in (no surprise there) Utah:
A cannon fired by a Civil War reenactment group at the start of the Summerfest Parade in Orem, Utah, about forty-five miles south of Salt Lake City, caused an explosion that sent three children to the hospital. Investigators said sparks from the cannon ignited a large pouch containing additional charges for the weapon, and the pouch then exploded.
Rico says this violated oh,
so many standard 'don't do that' rules for reenacting with cannon:
Do not have spectators close to the cannon.
Do not place gunpowder in anything other than tightly-closed containers.
Do not have any charges in front of the muzzle.
These idiots should be banned from any reenactment anywhere, ever again...
