The Philippine terrorist group Abu Sayyaf beheaded Canadian hostage Robert Hall after repeatedly threatening to do so. Hall was kidnapped in September of 2015 alongside another Canadian, John Ridsdel, a Norwegian, Kjartan Sekkingstad, and a Filipino, Marites Flor. Ridsdel was killed in April of 2016, after a multi-million dollar ransom demand was not met.Rico says they seem to have a thing for cutting off heads in the Philippines...
"This latest heinous crime serves to strengthen our government's resolve to put an end to this reign of terror and banditry," Philippines President Benigno Aquino said in a statement in which he confirmed the killing had taken place.
Abu Sayyaf is continuing an Islamist uprising against the government of the Philippines, seeking to create an Islamist State there. Recently they focused mostly on kidnappings and pledged allegiance to the Islamic State in February of 2016.
