Warming to the task

Rico says his father, a noted oceanographer at Scripps Institute of Oceanography, weighs in on global warming:
I may have told you this before, but during the first year I was at Scripps, back in 1970, there was serious discussion among earth scientists about our slipping into another ice age. Rodger Revell, the only oceanographer smart enough to know the significance of the CO2 record (that a second-rate student of his had been collecting), was off at Harvard, and it wasn't until he came back that Scripps began to recruit and attract world-class atmospheric scientists. Neither one of us will suffer much from this, and it is one of the very few comforts in knowing that we are the end of the line...
