Modern serfdom

Rico says that a recent visit to the eye doctor revealed, yet again, the class structure in the medical field. Everyone wears monogrammed scrubs (the nurses) or lab coats (the doctors), but the distinction is made by what's on the outfit: the lab coats get Dr. Wossmame, while the scrubs get just a first name (Kathi, Sally, Billy, whatever). Just like the serfs, the nurses don't get the privilege of a last name though, in Kesey's book, Nurse Ratched did have a first name (Mildred, fer crissakes), but nobody dared use it...
