BATFE, as in FUBAR

Rico says the proper Strother Martin quote would be Morons. I'm surrounded by morons, but this will have to do to describe the fuque de clusteur described in The Shame of Project Gunrunner by James Norell in the July 2011 issue of American Rifleman.
Seems that the BATFE (known for clusterfucks) ran a 'sting' operation (though it never stung anyone except innocent people like Border Patrol agent Brian Terry, photo) to 'monitor' the sale of gubs by small FFLs along the border and then into Mexico.
The only problem was that (surprise, surprise, surprise, to quote Strother Martin again) the gubs weren't going to the cartels (who were flying them in using cargo aircraft via major gub smugglers like the Russian Viktor Bout), but to local idiots who used them in people-smuggling operations, thus killing the Border Patrol agent.
Known as Fast and Furious, the specious BATFE operation was, basically, a total failure, and cost the government (meaning you and me) millions, for nothing.
The family of Agent Terry is going to sue the government over his death, costing us more; alas, we can't hold the BATFE director personally responsible for that money...
