The Donald:
Uh-oh, El Caudillo del Mar-A-Lago's going to need a whole SWAT team from Orkin to show up and kill all the bugs he's got up his arse.
Good god, what a child.
If any Democratic politician wants to get under this guy's skin and stay there, I suspect that referring to how decisively he lost the popular vote is the way to do it. And that's not even to mention the fact that he was whining a different tune back in 2012, when he wrongly thought Willard Romney was going to win the popular vote. There's no point in bringing that up, because the man has the attention span of a flatiron and doesn't care to remember what he said ten minutes ago.
As a further example, in what is alleged to be his initial reaction to the tragedy in Berlin, Germany, he leapt to the opportunity to talk about how it was an attack on "Christians". This caused a certain level of agita among people who do things like listen to intelligence briefings and, therefore, have something of a handle on how the fucking world actually fucking works. So today, per ABC News, when he was asked about it again, the following colloquy actually occurred:
Mr. President, your comments about the truck attack in Berlin being against Christians, do you think that this might…
A: Say it again?
Q: The attack in Berlin being an attack against Christians?
A: Who said that?
Q: I believe you said it in a press release.
Do they let the people in the intelligence agencies drink on the job?
Newt Gingrich: Secretary of Trump-splaining
Meanwhile, elsewhere on the ever-expanding campus of Camp Runamuck, courtesy of The Times of Israel via Josh Marshall, we find that the effort to reach out simultaneously to hardcore Zionists and enthusiastic European neo-Nazis has run into some unanticipated logistical problems.
Becky Norton Dunlop, deputy to the senior adviser on Trump's transition team for policy and personnel, is in Israel as part of the three-day Jerusalem Leaders Summit, a gathering of conservative parliamentarians from the US and Europe. As one of the high-level briefings organized for the group, the delegation was due to meet Wednesday morning with Hotovely in the Knesset. Just hours before the briefing, the group was informed that Kristina Winberg, a member of the European Parliament for the Swedish Democrats, would not be allowed to join. In protest, the entire group, including Dunlop, decided to boycott the meeting with Hotovely, according to a representative for the group. A spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry said the decision to exclude Winberg was made due to her party's far-right and ultra-nationalist positions.
And who might be Deputy to the Senior Advisor Becky Norton Dunlop, and why was she sent from Camp Runamuck to Israel so as to stick up for the rights of willowy Scandinavian fascists? Well, she's yet another product of Jim DeMint's Heritage Foundation, where she is the holder of the Ronald Reagan Distinguished Fellowship. She also heads the Conservative Action Project, which is an arm of the super-secret Council on National Policy, and was an integral part of the vandalism of the past eight years and, one supposes, the vandalism of the four years to come.
What she's doing mucking around in foreign policy in the most volatile part of the world is anybody's guess, although she holds all the proper opinions regarding the West Bank and Gaza. I still maintain that, at the heel of the hunt, this is going to be the DeMint Administration more than it is anything else. That's the primary hiring hall.
The Times of Israel's story also contains further evidence that Benjamin Netanyahu knows what a sucker he has on the hook over here:
This is not the first time officials tied to the incoming Trump administration have been criticized for ostensible support for far-right or neo-Nazi groups. Trump's pick of Steve Bannon as chief strategist has irked many in the American Jewish community over his embrace of the white nationalist, racist "alt-right" movement while at the helm of the Breitbart news website. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who also serves as foreign minister, said earlier this month that he was not concerned about Bannon or about a rise in anti-Semitism under Trump. Netanyahu has, however, butted heads with the Swedish government, led by the left-wing Social Democratic party, over its position on Israel's treatment of Palestinians. Last week Israeli officials declined to meet with Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Wallstrom during a visit to Israel and the Palestinian territories. Though Wallstrom requested meetings with Israeli officials, including Netanyahu, her efforts were rejected, ostensibly due to scheduling conflicts, though Israeli officials have unofficially said the Swedish diplomat is unwelcome due to her controversial statements on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
And we conclude our now daily update on what's happening with our autocrat-in-waiting with a return to his press conference, where he also found in the Berlin attack vindication for a bit of his more famous geopolitical wisdom.
From The Washington Post:
Speaking outside of his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, Trump did not walk back the proposals after he was asked by a reporter whether he was rethinking or reevaluating them in the wake of a fresh terror attack in Berlin. "You know my plans," Trump said. He went on to add that the attack on a Berlin Christmas market, which was claimed by the Islamic State, had vindicated him. German authorities are seeking a Tunisian migrant who they say has ties to Islamist extremists in connection with the attack, which killed twelve people and injured dozens. "All along, I've been proven to be right. One hundred percent correct," Trump said. "What's happening is disgraceful."
There is still plenty of time for fresh hell to erupt. Stay tuned.
