Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new Blade Runner, LAPD Officer K, unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what's left of society into chaos. K's discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard, a former LAPD Blade Runner who has been missing for thirty years.
After more than ten months since the Blade Runner sequel was announced, the film finally has its first teaser trailer (above). Warner Bros. released the teaser for the film, given the official title Blade Runner 2049. According to a leaked description of the film from Warner Bros., the sequel will focus on an LAPD officer named K (played by Ryan Gosling), who “unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos.”
It’s through K’s investigation upon uncovering the secret that he’s taken on a mission to find Rick Deckard, the officer played by Harrison Ford in the original Blade Runner. Warner Bros. also confirmed through the description that Deckard has been missing for thirty years since the events of the first film, which took place in 2019. Gosling and Ford are set to co-star alongside Jared Leto (Suicide Squad), Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy), Robin Wright (House of Cards) and Mackenzie Davis (Halt and Catch Fire). Blade Runner 2049 is slated to hit theaters on 6 October 2017.
